Nominations are now open for the Bishop Auckland Youth Awards 2020, which celebrate the town’s outstanding young people.
The Town Council wants to celebrate the extraordinary achievements and positive contributions of the town’s young people and the incredible journeys they have taken.
We are looking for local people and those who work with young people to submit suitable nominees before the closing date of Friday 20th March 2020.
Examples of previous nominees include young people who:
- Care for friends or family members
- Have carried out an act of bravery
- Help in their local community
- Have overcome their own difficulties
- Live with an illness
- Achieve great things in sport, dance and drama or at school
Team of the Year Award
This award recognises achievements made by a group of young people. We’re not just looking for sporting success. A team can be a group of young people that have achieved something special or made a significant contribution in the past year.
The Team of the Year will win £500 to support their team’s future endeavours.
Teams must be made up of young people aged 20 or younger that are based within Bishop Auckland.

Nomination forms can also be picked up in The Four Clocks Centre.
All nominees meeting the criteria will receive a certificate of achievement. The Mayor’s Medal will be awarded to a limited number of young people whose achievement have been special or outstanding.
Nominees will be invited to a presentation evening to be held at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Monday 22nd June 2020.
